My last post was on how you can contribute to fight spam mails with Gmail.

Now, we will see how the same can be implemented with Yahoo ! mail. Both free and plus account.

A free Yahoo ! mail account is provided to us with as many as 500 disposable email accounts.

The below pictorial steps will show us how to configure and use it:

1. Login to your Yahoo mail. Click on Options on the right side of the screen then click on “More Options…”

2. Click on “Disposable Email Addresses” on the left side menu, and follow the Yahoo! instruction to set up your disposable email address.

Use this email id whenever you are required to register any web service with a valid email id. When you start getting spam on this just delete this address 🙂 that’s all 🙂

Fight Spam the smarter way :) with Gmail

Everyone of us gets bombarded by spam messages in our inbox and while email service providers are trying 24/7 improving the spam protection, there is some measure which we must take to make it work better against spam.

One such measure is to have disposable email address. Now the method I follow is very simple to implement and it does not require you to be a tech geek to implement 🙂

Here are the steps (and for the record lets say my email address is xyz@gmail.com):

1. Whenever you signup for any web services (for example take example.com) never give away your actual email address to them.
2. What you should do is give them your email address as xyz+example@gmail.com.
3. Gmail will always strip off the +example part and will send the mails from example.com to xyz@gmail.com !!!
4. So whenever you see that there is a rise in spam with xyz+example@gmail.com, setup a filter which sends all such mails directly to trash/bin folder.

Though I don’t know what is the maximum number of such disposable Gmail address one can set and use but as of now I have not seen any issues with it.

blogger and wordpress – confused

I am now seriously reconsidering the switch from blogger to wordpress!

Pros: WordPress is cleaner, powerful and provides more options to the blogger.

Cons: WordPress.com does not support ads !!!

So probably I will run my blog on both of them, a clean version on wordpress (as a backup :)) and a ad supported version on blogger 🙂

Blogger Off .. WordPress On

Yes as the header suggests I am moving to wordpress from blogger .. because I mostly blog from my iPhone and there is no great app for blogger as compared to wordpress. I might come back again to blogger once they do something cool for blogger iPhone app 🙂 [ Now-a-days migration is just a click away 🙂 ]

On another thought I think I will maintain blogger and wordpress in parallel.
